Chocolate Cookie Drop Recipe

These double chocolate chips cookies are perfect for chocolate lovers. They are quick and easy and by far one of the most popular cookies one can make. Make sure that your margarine and shortening are soft before trying to mix them. Measure them out and let them sit overnight to ensure that they are soft enough. If you want a flatter cookie that is a little more chewy then only use three cups of flour. By letting the dough sit in the fridge for an hour before baking it will help the chocolate chips to hold their shape. If you want you can omit that stage and just start baking. Your kids will love licking the beaters and cleaning out the bowl when you are finished mixing the dough up.

Recipe for Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 ½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In bowl mix shortening, butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. In another bowl combine all the dry ingredients and shift together throughly. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. When it is mixed well turn off the beater and fold in the chocolate chips. If you add them with the beater it will break up your chocolate chips.
  3. Allow the dough to sit in the fridge for half an hour to an hour before baking. With two small spoons drop the dough onto an ungreased baking sheet. Let them have about two inches of space between cookies because they will flatten out while they are cooking. Bake for eight to ten minutes until they are lightly brown. Allow the cookies to cool for a minute before removing them from the baking sheet. Let them cool on old newspaper or paper towel on the counter.
  4. With a piece of paper towel or clean dish rag wipe the cookie sheet off and repeat until all the dough is finished. If you remember to wipe the cookie sheet between batches it will reduce the chance of the cookies burning.
You can freeze the extra cookies and save them for the kids lunch snacks or serve them at functions. These double chocolate chip cookies are really popular at school parties. They even make wonderful gifts to give for the holidays or birthdays. Just find a nice gift box and wrap a big bow around it and make your friends and family smile when they open it.
