Chip Chocolate Horse Quarter Sale

Everyone has a memory regarding the best chocolate chip cookie ever made. Chocolate chip cookies are as American as apple pie; and nothing goes better with a glass of milk. Plus, chocolate chip cookies are the perfect accompaniment for a slumber party, school bake sale or just a quick snack.

History of Chocolate Chip Cookies

The history of chocolate chip cookies originates from Ruth Wakefield, inventor of the Nestle-Toll House brand of chocolate chip cookies. Ruth Graves Wakefield graduated from the Framingham State Normal School Department of Household Arts in Farmington, MA in 1924. She worked as a dietitian. Ruth and her husband bought a tourist lodge named the Toll House Inn. The story goes that one day while making one of her favorite recipes, the butter drop cookie, she found herself without an ingredient the recipe called for, baker's chocolate. So what does any good baker do? She made the best of what she had and substituted a semi-sweet chocolate bar cut up into bits. However, unlike the baker's chocolate the chopped up chocolate bar did not melt completely, the small pieces only softened.
